Queenbeesforsale.co.uk only breed Apis Mellifera Mellifera Bees (The European black bee, original to the UK). We breed the queens at our isolated apiaries in Northern Portugal where winters are similar temperatures to that of the UK, originally coming from the North of England I understand the frustration in losing queens/hives during the winter and having to combine hives in the spring, however the beekeeping season in Portugal is much longer, therefore I can offer mated Queen bees from March through to the end of September, ideal for beekeepers with queenless hives both early and late in the year, when mated queen bees are difficult or impossible to obtain.

We also supply large quantities of queen bees to commercial beekeepers all over Europe. Our Apis Mellifera Mellifera Queens are from our best stock, disease tested and inspected by local bee inspectors, gentle to work with, very high honey producers, and high pollen collectors aiding spring build up and low swarming tendencies, they are the original bee to the UK before other strains were introduced and crossed often resulting in angry and disease prone colonies. Our queens are mated naturally and left to lay for 3-4 weeks before shipping this allows the newly mated queens to settle in and enables us to check they are laying properly, we normally don't clip or mark the queens to aid in acceptance but can be done on request. We also don't bank the queens, they are posted on request and remain in the mating nucleus until the order has been completed. The queen bee comes with a health certificate and full instructions for safe introduction. We ship our queen bees daily except on Fridays and weekends, in a plastic queen introduction cage with attendants, in a ventilated jiffy bag and send registered post, usually arriving within 2 days.
